The ordinary made extraordinary
Welcome to my website. I'm Anne Schwegmann-Fielding and I am totally passionate about the transformation of old into new.
From exhibition pieces to commissioned panels, furniture and sculptures, it is this fusing of the old and the new, the man made and the natural, the mass produced and the painstakingly hand crafted that continues to fascinate me.
Since setting up my studio in 1993 my work has ranged from collage to carnivals but has always included a vast array of recycled materials.
These materials include amongst many others, shattered glass, buttons and crockery. Each piece of crockery used is painstakingly cut by hand with the use of one simple tool. Tiny individual pieces are cut and shaped to requirement, each piece as important as the next, and then carefully positioned as part of a much bigger piece.
"It's beautiful...possibly the most beautiful mosaic I have ever seen."
